Woody Woodson received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart (wounded June 6, , D-Day, Omaha Beach), Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Arrow Head and two Bronze Stars, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, National Defense Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Medal
This young man was remarkable in that he saved many other young men, on the Normandy beaches, June, , despite having been wounded, himself.
Another thing that made him remarkable was that he was one of the few African Americans on the beaches, that day. He was awarded the Bronze Star, although I suspect that a white medic would have gotten at least the Silver Star.
